Information Infrastructure Initiative, Kyushu University

Message from Director

Koichi Akashi

Director of Information Infrastructure Initiative, Kyushu University

The Information Infrastructure Initiative, Kyushu University plays a key role in using information technology to support the university's education, research, medical care, and administration. This includes keeping the university-wide ICT infrastructure running reliably and safeguarding information security.

In recent years, digital technologies, including generative AI, have advanced rapidly, leading to significant changes in the nature of education and research at the university, as well as in the roles society expects us to fulfill. Under these circumstances, the Information Infrastructure Initiative is called upon not only to reliably maintain and develop a secure and highly reliable information infrastructure, but also to support the creation of new value through the utilization of data and cutting-edge technologies.

Going forward, while continuing to build a safe and secure information environment as our foundation, we will further advance university-wide digital transformation (DX) to enhance education, research, medical care, and university administration. Furthermore, we will evolve the Information Infrastructure Initiative beyond a mere organization for maintaining and operating information systems. Instead, we will develop it into a foundation where diverse campus organizations and members can collaborate to generate new value.

Working in collaboration with everyone both within and outside the university, we are committed to providing strong support, through information technology, for Kyushu University's sustainable development and its contributions to society. We ask for your continued understanding and cooperation regarding the activities of the Information Infrastructure Initiative.
